File security I recieved a message last night which told me that all my personal files on the computer were available to down load. Is this possible and if so how do I stop this. Thanks |
I assume that the 'message' that you refer to was a Pop Up !!! If so... and, 99.99999999999999999999% sure it was... NEVER allow anything to be D/Led to your computer from these garbage sites... They are tricks that will almost always cause you harm... Many will look very much like 'Official UpDate' sites... DO NOT close them by clicking on the "X-Box"... Instead, Right-Click once on the Task Bar at the bottom where you will see the name of the open window... Left-Click on CLOSE... This will not guarantee that you do not have the crap installed, anyway, but it certainly reduces the number of times you will be 'infected' by malicious commercial s h i t . |
Hi, This was a message from a chat box on my limewire |
In the LW Library tab check your shared folder or the folders you are sharing, and see what they contain. Those are the only files LW shares besides the incomplete folder if you have that option selected. If you see you see all the files on your computer are being shared within this folder. You can right mouse click the folder and left mouse click stop sharing. You can then go to tools>options>sharing---- left mouse click add--- this will open a window where you can locate the folder you would like to share. Then all you need to do is left mouse click select. Then click apply then okay. |
You are aware aren't you that the versions of LW from about LW 4.2 to 4.8.0 had a security hole!!! That's why there were reminders sent out to co0nvince people to update to LW 4.8.1 where this security issue was overcome. To find out more look at the beta section of the forum.
