You Are Ripping Me Off Limewire, Aren't You!?!

I know that the real reason Limewire provides their free version is so that while I run it my computer can be used as part of the Limewire network, therefore making a better service for the pay costomers and keeping more copies of files available. But now I suspect that Limewire is deliberately F'ing with my downloads so that I am using it forever! There are certian files that I can never complete. This is not due to them being corrupt because they are not. What happens is that I can only find one host that has them and even though some register as being a T1 their files download somewhere between 1 and 0. But what happens is after I have spent all day waiting for their file to download I lose the host. This always happens somewhere betweeen 75% and 99% completion. No host for this file can be found until after the time limit ( 7 days ) for keeping old files runs out. Then when the file now regesters at 0%, even though it is at 70% or greater in my incomplete folder a host is found only for the same thing to happpen again. I do not know why there is a 7 day limit in the first place or why they do not tell you up front about it or that you have the option of changing it, but once I found out and changed it to 900 days the host dissapeared for over a month. Then the other day for some reason when I turned on the Limewire I had to reregester and once again my incomplete files regestered at 0%. And guess what? Now I can find the missing hosts again. There are about 8 video files this happens on which I have been trying to finish since last year. And I cannot see any reason why there is still only one host for the files. Shouldn't someone else have downloaded the file by now bringing the total to 2 sorces or more? And I am not talking about some obscure files that only I and whoever is hosting it would be interested in. One of them is a Foreigner music video for one of their hit songs, and I have no problem finding multiple files of all their other videos.

So now I have no option but to believe that LimeWire has an interest in there being some videos which I am never able to complete, therefore forcing me to keep LimeWire running forever in vain in order to complete these files. LimeWire knows that most users will stop using it once they have downloaded everything they are looking for and won't be back for months. But keeping some files as incomplete forces the user to stay connected months longer than he needs to be.

Now if this is not the case then LimeWire should provide some program that will let LimeWire recognize that some files are nearly complete instead of at 0%. I Know that I am not the only person this happens to and I do not think it is fair to have to spend hours, days, or weeks redownloading an almost finnished file. LimeWire may be free, but Con Edison isn't. And I cannot use many of my other programms while LimeWire is on. I don't see why this should be so hard for them to do.

hehe--that's not LimeWire (limewire shares no files): that's the source of the file.

Turn on the Vendor and location columns and check the IP.

You can probably dig around and get more info on who controls that IP.

I do think you are right that someone might use this to keep connected, but it isn't LimeWire.
