Length of audio files When looking at the length of audio files in the LimeWire free version, they appear as a number, eg 5927. Is this seconds or what is the story? Thank you |
I only ever look at the bit rate.. that's a better indication of what you're getting, better quality have higher bit rate. I like to get 320 br, but that's just me, 192 is fine :) |
The length is the playing time given in seconds ... took me a while to work that one out, and it is useful if you are looking for a different, or complete version of a song, .......and in response to Kathy, I'm not too sure I can tell the difference between a 320 kbs file and a 128, I have converted some down, and I'm darned if I can tell the difference. I have some dire sounding 320 kbs files, and some totally adequate 64 kbs. (which take up less space and are quicker to download) I suspect the difference only becomes apparrent if you are listening through very fine and expensive equipment. this could make an interesting discussion........ |
Thanks for the help! :) 128kbps is so-so but you can tell in some songs, say a nicely produced metal song. I reckon the best is 192 VBR (variable-bit-rate). Media Monkey is the best for ripping also. |
