Recovering Deleted Files I'm new to this, so please bear with me. I was trying to upload some video files and accidenlty deleted them. I tried to recover them in the "Recycle Bin" but they were not there. Then I did a complete "Search" of the Drive C for the files, and they did not turn up. Does anyone know how I can recover these files? Thanks! Tex |
IMO & sad to say if you cannot find them they're totally gone :( . |
Hold on now! Your files may still be recoverable. What you need to do is get an unerase tool. I know that Norton SystemWorks will do the job, but there are other programs that will do the job. Go to www.download.com to look for some freeware and shareware software unerase utilities. You need to do this as soon as possible though. When you delete files in windoze all that is done is the file name is changed the file is still on the hard disk. However, windoze can no longer see the file and will overwrite it if it needs to. I hope you recover it. deepblue |
deepblue, Thanks for the information! It worked (sort of). I recovered about 95% of my files. I'm still missing a few, but nothing to get too concerned over. I used Active@Undelete. The URL is: http://www.active-undelete.com/googlegl.htm. It has a "Demo" version for free, but because my files were so large, I had to use the pay version. It's $40.00, but I think it was money well spent. Again, thanks for helping me out! Tex |
Did all that...still got a problem Hi... Blue-man... I did all that...the files were only deleted today, but they were not in 'limewire incomming'... Could there be an other map where I'm supposed to find them? Thanks |
If an un-erase tool of some sort doesn't recover your files they must have already been overwritten. I'm afraid that it's almost impossible to recover your files if that is the case. Make as little changes as possible to your hard drive and try several different tools to find them (shareware and freeware, I reccomend trying to find a free or trial tool before you buy). Good luck. deepblue |
um...i installed the demo for active undelete... i need to no how u use it... how will i be able to find old deleted limewire files? |
RTM!!! There's others around also for doing the same thing. Here's some references to others: Accidental deletion of my library - Gnutella Forums, & also this PC Inspector File Recovery (click on link) DELETING FILES FROM LIMEWIRE LIBRARY-DON"T! - File recovery advice! - Gnutella Forums * Edit: Restoration - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com seems to be better than pc inspector! Another free one is ASEUS Deleted File Recovery ___ Recuva - File Recovery sounds like a good free one too. |

i need help i need help finding my limewire library. |
Why did you tack onto this thread? Your question's not about deleted files:eek: In LW view > show/hide. Make sure Library is ticked, otherwise you won't see the library tab. |
In the "incomplete files" menu in your limewire library,It shows alL of the files that are currently downloading or the ones which you canceled the download of...If that is little help..im sorry..But always works for me. |
Hello, I suppose you might use Active@ undelete tool. This worked great for me and never failed before yet. What is more, its last version can boot itself from a disk http://www.active-undelete.com/ |

I am new to the forum so I hope I am in the appropriate topic for my dilemma. My daughter likes to use my limewire and has ultimately stored music in other areas whereas when I try to recover them to add to my playlist I can't find them. The seem to be deleted or zipped. Is there any way to put ALL my music back in one spot just to see what has been lost? |

Once you get to your music folder, go to the very far right bottom corner of the window thats displaying your music files and hold down the right mouse key and drag it to the very far left top corner and let go of the mouse key and then you'll see an option to select. Once you do that, your media will start playing. |

Here's a little help Quote:
Hey I had the same problem. Here is a link that helps. I found my files and have now put them in their proper place... I didn't know what the name of my folder was, so did a computer search for an artist I knew was in the old file. Found out the name of the file and followed the directions on this link. Hope this helps:) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...downloads.html |
Hi, I'm also new to this and I think this is the right forum for me...? Here's my question: I had many songs in my Library and they are suddenly all gone! Where have they gone? I know I didn't delete them but...? Can somebody please help me? |
Recovering Deleted Files Another great product to try is Advanced File Recovery, apparently it works very well. I can't say from my experience, as I have luckily never been in a situation where I would need to recover files, but from what I've heard it does a great job. |
