what are "incoming searches" exactly On the monitor:incoming searches panel, what exactly are the "incoming searches" that are listed? Are those the strings people are entering into their search fields? That doesn't make sense because they look like usernames e.g. bob45 housewife24 ... etc. If they are in fact usernames, then where the heck do I enter/change my own username? I don't recall ever being asked to do that (with the free version of LimeWire). |
AFAIK They are searches that match a shared file you have. Or at least searches looking for something that might at least partially match up with the name or id3 tag of a shared file you have. |
Oh, OK. Just out of curiosity then, is there some reason people would be entering username-like strings? If you have LimeWire Pro, can people search for your computer by entering your username? |
No! They can only search the folders you're sharing. Make sure you have at least LW 4.8.1 b/c there was a security bug with LW 4.8.0 down to about LW 4.2 |
Yeah, I was gonna say that seems a little dodgy as far as keeping the process anonymous. Thanks LOTR :) |
