iPod library update

I'm not sure if this exact question has been posted...I looked at most of the problems and mine is just a little different.

I tried using an iPod forum like this, but because I'm using LimeWire instead of ibuying music from Tunes and wearing a hole in my wallet, I was afraid that the iPod people wouldn't really help.

So, I updated my iTunes and my library disappeared. I know the file (with my old library) still exists because I see it in my iTunes file, but when I try to copy it into my library, nothing happens. However, all my songs are still on my LimeWire tab on the left hand side of my iTunes program. I can't seem to get them into the iTunes library.

It seems so stupid because it is in the same program and I feel like there is something so simple that I am just not doing.

Please help! Any advice will help...please please please!:(

Oh, I am having the same problem except half of the songs apear in my itunes library and the other half apear in the Limewire tab. This is frustrating , I won't all the songs organized by artist, etc... in my ipod. I've tried to copy/paste, nothing works..... Help!

marywrap1 you need to add them to the iTunes music library; see How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) The LW playlist is simply a playlist & the songs still exist in the LW downld folder. So you can play them but that's all.

As for perky_001's problem, I'm not sure. It depends upon which operating system (mac or windows.) But it's possibly the same issue as marywrap1. The iPod/iTunes forum should be able to help with that issue if I'm misunderstanding your problem.

Oh tnks for respnse but I'm not sure if my problem is understood. The limewire
playlist transfers to my ipod OK but half of the music shows up in a "limewire"
folder & the other half is organized by artist, album, etc... which is what I want.
I can't figure out why some limewire songs are being put in their proper place and other songs aren't. I know this originates in the itunes window, but I can't fix it.
I have tried option drag dop etc and nothing will move from that limewire folder.
The add to library doesn't do anything either.

Um ... iTunes will arrange songs according to their id3 tag. If they haven't been properly tagged with album info, etc. then iTunes will stick them at the bottom of the list as unnamed album. Same applies for other details such as artist. So have a look at the bottom of the iTunes library list & see if any of those files you are worried about are listed there. It's a constant problem for me. I use a separate program to retag some files before adding to iTunes or I'll retag them within iTunes.

iTunes can't import certain file types. Among those it can't import are mp3 pro, ogg vorbis, realplayer files.

As I said earlier, the LW playlist is simply a playlist. You can ONLY play the songs that's all. You can't copy them.
