What is a 'HIt'

I understand what an ‘upload’ is when some user is actually taking a file from my share folder but then I have a have a ‘HIT’ count as well. What does the ‘hit’ represent or mean...I can’t figure it out...thank you

Hit = how many times your particular shared file has been found in someone's search.
