Lime wire Harmful to my computer!!

I recently had no choice but to uninstall lime wire as it has had numerous malicious effects on my computer.

The first most important issue is that it constantly automatically downloads files into my hared folder, and with having a fairly fast DSL connection and very little space left on my hard drive you can see what effect this will have on my computer, filling up the hard drive in no time at all.
I have recently uninstalled lime wire but this problem still exists and I know this problem is down to lime wire as it started when I installed it and I have no other program that is capable of downloading that amount of files onto my computer. I think this problem may be associated with the “ultra peer” function but disabling this has had no effect what so ever.

Secondly Since I installed lime wire the CTRL ALT DEL function does not work, I’m am not sure if this problem is associated with lime wire but I consider it highly likely as after I first started up lime wire all these problems came to light. If it is nothing to do with lime wire it self it is most likely off one of the thousands of files that lime wire has downloaded onto my computer against my will which could have easily been some sort of spy ware or harmful application.

Thirdly Lime wire continuously used to start it self up even after I configured the settings to prevent it to but yet it still did.

I have uninstalled this program using the add/remove function and deleted all the files I could find associated with lime wire but I have no success in regaining the CTRL ALT EL function or stopping lime wire downloading thousands of files onto my computer which are all about 800kb each which takes up a fair amount of hard drive space when it is all added up.

I find these problems to be harmful to my computer, very irritating and would like some solution to them as quickly as possible.

The reason for your problems is a virus. See LimeWire continually Popping up every few seconds & also Opening at System Startup Also check out the sticky about Virus warning at the top of this section.

A FLAW IN YOUR THESIS.

I AM NOT TRYING TO BE IN-SENSITIVE. I WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST SOLUTION. BUT UNDERSTAND THAT "LIMEWIRE" HAS NOT DOWNLOADED OR DONE ANYTHING TO YOUR COMPUTER. "YOU" HAVE. IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO CLEARLY UNDERSTAND YOUR PROBLEMS. FROM WHAT I GATHERED, YOU DO NOT HAVE A VIRUS. IT IS MOST LIKELY A BAD INSTALL. THE LIMEWIRE APPLICATION HAS A HISTORY OF BAD INSTALLATIONS ON THE LINUX STACK. AGAIN, THAT IS NOT DUE TO LIMEWIRE SOFTWARE,RATHER, YOUR PC'S JAVA ENVIROMENT BEING BAD OR OUT DATED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY LADY FRIENDS BROTHER. ALMOST IDENTICAL SYMTOMS. YOUR BEST BET IS TO BACK YOUR DATA UP AND RE-INSTALL. IF YOUR RUNNING XP, THIS WILL BE CAKE. ONCE YOU DO, MAKE SURE YOUR JAVA ENVIRONMENT IS FULLY UP TO DATE. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN (NOT ACCUSING YOU) A LIMEWIRE USER USES LIMEWIRE TO DOWNLOAD PRO WITHOUT JAVA RUNTIME. THE SYMPTOMS USUALLY SHOW UP RIGHT AWAY. SERVES THEM RIGHT. TRY NOT TO IGNORE YOUR LIMEWIRE .EXE WARNINGS. RUN PROTECTION SOFTWARE FOR AN EXAM OR PEEK. IF YOU DO THIS, YOU WILL BE FINE. ALSO, IF YOUR RUNNING ITUNES PC, YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOUR RAM IS WELL OVER THE MINIMUM LIMIT. DUE TO THE FACT THAT ENABLING ITUNES IMPORTING WITHIN LIMEWIRE IS JUST BEGGING FOR TROUBLE IF DON'T HAVE THE RAM TO PUSH ITUNES. I FEEL FOR YOU AND GOOD LUCK. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP.:(
