Stupid Firewalls
 

How do I get rid of these stupid firewalls? I wanted to contact someone through Direct Connect and I couldn't because of the stupid firewall. I've been in LimeWire for almost an hour and it's still there! :mad:

See How to Direct Connect, etc. There's a link there for configuring your firewall. Just keep in mind that direct connecting can be a hit & miss affair. One minute you can next not. lol :D There's so many factors such as free slots & bandwidth for you & the other person, & net traffic, & firewalls for either of you.

If you know the person you can send them a magnet link of one of your files (or vice versa) & once they start downlding from you, they can browse you from the upld window (monitor window.) That's where chat can also come in handy.

Can you tell me exactly what a 'magnet link' is and how do I make a file like that? Or are the files already like that?

Did you see the example & explanation in the link I gave? I think that gives a reasonable description about how to create one. What is it? Um ... it's the details of the hashtree of the file plus the user's ip address. So, if someone types the link into their browser, it will open LW & start downlding that file from you. To create it, it also involves your browser. Click on the link I gave above & see the last post in that thread. By the way, that thread is a Sticky & is listed at the top of this section of the forum.
