How do I cancel this and get my money

I want to cancel this I just subscribed and they said my total would be $16 and some change and they charged me over $40 and I don't want to be on this for that much money does anyone know how to cancel this other than filing a dispute with my bank which I have already done.

Did you per chance log on to a scammer site?

Omigosh, I've been through this myself. I don't know if you were promised all the music you can download for a membership fee, or if you are referring to Limewire, which is free unless you want to upgrade to Pro, which I plan on doing next week.

I signed up for a membership with MyMusic.com at a rate of $17.95 for a year and I got them to agree to a month free trial and they said "fine" that they wouldn't even credit my account until the 30 days were up. The next day it was taken out of my bank. .

I found out I was scammed by coming to this forum about a small problem with Limewire. I found out that I could have gotten Limeware for nothing directly from their site, that I could have gotten just about all the downloads for anti-virus, anti-spyware, software for CD burning, all for nothing. I read the STICKY post about only downloading P2P from P2P sites. Very informative and a good read. Suggest you read it.

Anyway, I demanded a refund from them. After threatening to post their actions on every forum I could get in to and report them for internet fraud did I get a full refund.

Like I say, if that was your case, as one of my dear friends on this forum told me, you got scammed. Report it as soon as possible to the site or club where you got Limewire. Limewire can be downloaded at its official site Limewire.com. ;)

how do I get my money back

I did get scammed by Limewire I did go to their site but there was nothing there to get it for free so I agreed to a one year at $1 and some change a month which would have totalled over $16 and my bank account was immediately charged over $40. I am filing a complaint with my bank to dispute that amount and cancel the entire thing. I can't find anywhere on the Limewire site to dispute anything and of course they don't have a phone number to call them at. Everytime I go to contact us it takes me to here the forum. So now where do I go?

rkapsi July 30th, 2005 05:42 AM

Aaagr, no you did not get scammed by LimeWire (http://www.limewire.com).

You did get scammed by a site that looks similar to LimeWire's homepage and/or has the name limewire in its URL (limewire-******.com).

Please read this thread:

Yes.

Rkapsi is right. Limewire doesn't charge by the year. If you want the Limewire Pro, it is a one-time charge of $18.88 with free updates for six months. Only if you want, do you pay for another six months of updates. Nope, sorry hon, there is no membership fee at Limewire. Did you read my post? There's a lot of that stuff going around and other discussions about the scammers elsewhere is the forum. I've been using the basic now for about two weeks and I'm lovin' it! I cant' wait to get the Pro when payday rolls around next week.

Hi u2btrfly

I was just about to do my shopping when I stopped by and read this thread, it seems that not only has Amyaim been scammed she is also very confused and angry (bad combination).

Now, I hope she has calmed down enough to read this:

Amyaim

What you have done is gone to a site pretending to be the official Limewire, they probably said that had loads of films and music all for a low cost. They, in fact, have nothing but a URL to Limewire Basic, they lied in order to get your payment details, now that they have got them they intend to milk you dry.

What do you now do?

Go to your payment provider, tell them you have been conned by a scam site specifically set up to con inexperienced users out of their money. You should then get your money back, especially as most credit cards have an anti-fraud feature, and afterwards change your payment details.

I just want to say that I have been using Limewire Pro for over a year now and this morning I renewed my upgrade/updates for another six months. The difference between us is that I went to the official Limewire site, which is here:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml

And the download page is here:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

while you went to another site thrown up by a search engine that pretended to by Limewire.

One final thing, Amyaim you are one of many, many people who have made the same mistake, conning newbies out of their money is very big business on the internet, and until scammed sites are closed down or newbies become more careful this situation will run and run.

UK Bob

Time to do my shopping.

how do I get my money back

Well I was contacted by my bank and they are going to refund my money back to my account and I will delete the site that is downloaded on my computer. I had limewire a long time ago and it was the same one from before because it even saved the music I downloaded a long time ago. Anyway I found a phone number to contact them which is what I will be doing on Monday. Thanks for all your replies and I am sure that things will work for the best. I am not angry let's get that straight. I was frustrated but not angry because I know I will get my money back. Thanks for the proper web site I will check it out. Have a great day everyone.

Glad things worked out and you've beaten the scammers.

why do you people pay for Limewire Pro anyway.?
Do you know what this site is for?
Just dowloand the bloody thing

In my 'amateur' days, (only about three months ago) I
paid for 360Share. (GBP26).

When I was searching for program downloads i came acroos Limewire. I thought "I'll download this". Got Pro for zilch and have been running it ever since. This morning I downloaded/updated to 4.9.11 with no problem.

I use Limewire all the time now.

Was i ripped off? I might have been....... but let's face it:
ith all the free programmes I've dowloaded, not to mention the dvd ripped films, i'm quids in thankyou.
