Why Do Humans Co-Operate?

I've used Limewire for a fwe weeks now, and very good it is. However, I do have one gripe. On the Monitor screen I see all these Humans uploding my stuff. I want to go to bed. I want to shut down my M/C. It would be nice if Limewire gave me a graceful method to do this. OK some humans have chat turned on and I can sometimes Communicate, but, mostly I just have to DUMP them. Any Answers?

are you an alien? i thought aliens would have some greater p2p sharing than gnutella, or is it the best? lol

anyways, there is an option if you set limewire to close after transfers complete.

options > shutdown

the option i recommend is minimize to system tray, then when you close limewire, it goes to system tray, then you can right click the icon in the tray and click "exit after transfers"

No really useful answer, but I wish all Limewirers had your attitude :)

You can set LW to switch off after finishing transfers, but if you disconnect, you may have to wait two hours for the other hosts to finish uploading, but you can not do any more searches yourself.

I try to switch off completely as soon as someone has finished an upload, but whether they really have or not is not always clear......but what if there are a few uploading? .... oh well I know I will be back on in the next day or two so I don't feel too guilty. It is the best you can do at present!

I think you've missed my point. Okay, I can set my Comp to close all uploads after all uploads. But I ain't got time. I wanna close NOW. But gracefully. That is warn my uploaders. In the mainframe world, I do this all the time. i.e. " You have 3 minutes to log off. save now".

Surely this is a good enhancement?

Thank you. Some other Peep is calling me a Wan**ker. Thinks I should stay online until the uploader has transfered 700MB of Harry Potter film or MS Visual Studio.

I understood your point perfectly and I wish that I could put up a warning that I was switching off in five minutes. I have no idea how it could be done as it would be in conjunction with the chat feature and that is hugely less than perfect for about 101% of users.

It's a great idea and you should put it into the Feature Requests forum, after checking that someone has not lready done so. Limewire do consider all suggestions posted there.

I can usually tell if the host I am uploading from has done so gracefully. He/She will not switch off when the file is 90% complete! :(
