Limewire Ip Blocker????

OK, SO i thought LImewire was suposed to have a IP address blocker? I just recieved a letter from my cable company telling me warner brothers could take legal action for downloading CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY" which is funny because i could never download it , it would always get to 97 % and stop. Any idea why this happened with a "ip blocker"???? is there a way to download movies now without getting traced? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

people who post here should read the forum rules before posting especially the dirty great red one at the top of the forum home page.

Anyway .. you can block certain ips contacting your share . You cannot block your ip from other users on the internet.

IP Address

You seem to have confused LWs IP filter with hiding your own IP address.

LWs IP filter prevents you from downloading from certain IP addresses, they are filtered out from your search. This facility is useful if you come across a P2P client uploading bogus or virus infested files, you put that client's IP address in your LW filter and LW, from then on, will ignore that client when you are searching.

However, when you upload or download your IP address is being broadcasted, that is how you were traced, e.g. your IP led back to your ISP and your ISP logs led back to you.

Finally, you cannot hide your IP address, that’s just how the internet works.

OK your reely not suposed to Dl movies but ....who gives an atomic fu*k....

you can block the MPAA from your pc with a cool little program called peerguardian, its compleatley free and i think it may keep any future problems like this from happening.(im not 100% shur if PG will work for that so please correct me if im wrong)

anyway for THIS problem...i think you may be screwed...if i were you id just deny anything.

the letter that WB sent u is most likley hot gas and they wont do anything. thyr trying to scare you. you might get a warning or like a 50$ fine or somethig if they are reely stupid about it. but i could be wrong...the thing at the front of movies dose say "up to 250,000 fine and 5 years in prison"

i wish you much luck (you may need it)

Are you sure about not being able to block your IP from being seen by others? I think that I read somewhere on here, but on a different topic, about being able to block your IP address from others. I don't really know that much about computers but shouldn't there be a way?! I read that Limewire is being sued by some major record labels for illegal downloading and that 2 other people were arrested because their IP address was traced by some "Bots??" or something like that. I was just wondering if there was some way hide it so that your not being traced.
