severely frustrated

ok, I've only been trying to figure this stuff out since 7pm last night, getting really pi**ed off. All I want to do is download and burn a few movies. At this point I don't believe anyone has ever been able to do this. How do I know what file to use? avi?wmv?mov?mpg?acbdxyz? and then does it actually ever download? if I ever am able to do that how do I burn it to my DVD with my Nero? any advice is appreciated....

I hear you cyndy709! Most of the time .avi and .mpg files are the highest quality videos. You should try to stay away from .wmp format video (and proably .acbdxyz -- I'm not quite sure what that is;)). You should try to pick a file with the most hosts rather than a file with only one host for the fastest download. Try a very specific search to get more results for the file you want to download. As for buring with Nero, do a Google search for a guide to using it. I hope you get everything figured out! Good luck.

Bitzi

You can also try looking up the file with Bitzi. Right click on the file you want , go down to advanced , click on Look Up File With Bitzi.
If anyone has submitted the file it should tell you if its good or not. Like deepblue I stick with .avi or .mpg files.
Also if a video, especially large files like 500mb or more, has a lot of sources and nothing shows up on bitzi, I would be suspicious.

Cyndy709, Deepblue

Nero userguides are available for download from their website.

Before d/ling a file....

1. Check the Quality (star) rating, the # of people (resources) for that file A N D T H E N do a Bitzi check on that file (right click on mouse>>Advanced>>BITZI.

2 Realize that:

A. Most movies files are 600 to 700 (plus) MB's long.

B. Using any dial-up to get these movies is a loooooonnnng process.

C. Not all titles are movies no matter what the titles say.

D. Not all movies are good quality.

3. A DVD disk holds more info than a 700 MB CDR so a DVD burner is nice. Most, but not all, burners come with a complimentary burning program.

Don't get p*ssed off, get even...to get even you must learn.

Just as an extra to what Deacon72 said, more or less the same points is Movie download issues which also gives some good points.

Nero will need to have the MPeg2 codec in order to burn to DVD. Unless you plan to burn to VCD then it doesn't matter so much. MPeg2 for Nero is a part of their newer versions or a separate product for the older versions of Nero so long as they're not too old that is.
