Default Why is LimeWire crashing?

On our home computer we have Windows XP. Both my sister and I have our own accounts that we log into and in both accounts we have LimeWire installed. Lately when my sister is in her LimeWire it sometimes just disappears. For example, last night she was downloading some songs and she minimized LimeWire so she could do something else on the Internet and she was only on the Internet for 10 minutes when LimeWire vanished. She had to open it back up again because it was completely shut down. Does anyone know why this would be happening? We have the 4.9.7 version.

Sorry for sounding stupid but what is a 'system tray'?

Default System tray

No there is nothing in the system tray. Normally and closing of limewire will not really close it and you will need to use exit in the system tray or exit after transfers but this problem is different.

It just stops totally. It is no longer running on the pc. If I check the task menu or systems or my internet traffic it is as if I had not launched the application. It is very odd.

I understand now. Normally when LimeWire is closed, a small icon shows up in the bottom right-hand corner but when this happened it wasn't even there. When my sister opened up her LimeWire again her partial downloads were still there. It only happened a couple of times and fortunately it hasen't happened since. What's going on?
