There shouldn't be. I've shared with users in a no. of different continents. USA, Australia, Europe, Asia.

I'm 2nd guessing you want to direct connect with someone but are having problems right?

well not exactly, a friend of mine is putting songs for me to download but i can never find them. were only a state away.. do you have any suggestions?

Lord of the Rings August 15th, 2005 08:46 PM

That's what I mean. You want to connect directly with your friend. There's 2 techniques. One is using Direct Connect search type. The other is using Magnet Links. Your friend can make magnet links of the files & then email the magnet link address & you can type it into your browser & LW will open & start downlding the file. Once connected you can browse them & see what other files they have. See How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect

is there a reason why when i search the songs they dont show up but he has them shared? he can see people searching but doesnt see when i hit on a search...?

your serch might not be reaching his computer...think of a serch querry like ripples on a pond or radio waves....the onley go so far befor they die out

Lord of the Rings August 15th, 2005 08:53 PM

Don't know. Did you configure your firewall? The search does time out so perhaps you might not have reached him ... perhaps his bandwidth is too busy. Remember there's many millions of LW users out there. And many millions of other users of the gnutella network using other programs such as bearshare, shareaza, etc.

You beat me to answer this time cathodraytube lol :D

so when i search for a song and 300 of the same thing come up chances are thousands if not more actually have that and its only reaching but so far?

cathodraytube August 15th, 2005 08:59 PM

yes ...if your serch onley shows 10 copies of the same file ,it is possible that there are 1000000s of copies of that file all over the world, your serch dies out befor it can reach all of them tho so it onley finds 10.
