Well it looks that way. Check out this sticky. http://forums.gnutelliums.com/showth...threadid=28751 The basic version of LimeWire is free, and can be downloaded here from the official website. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml If you contact your credit card company, and explain what happened they might reverse the charges. |
Screwed Yes Trev, you were screwed. You have joined the ranks of "The Legion of the SCAMMED". Unfortunately, you have done what hundreds, if not thousands, of newbies have done before you, i.e. gone looking for LW by googling (or using some other search engine) and then choosing one of the first two or three to come up on the list, which is usually a scam site. Note this for future reference, scam sites pay search engines to come top of their search lists. Now, your lifetime membership is to a club that does not exist, your extra $10.00 is for software (Limewire Basic) that's free. So effectively you have paid for NOTHING. Take Fabion's advice and try and get your money back via your credit card, next delete the rubbish you have downloaded because it could be stuffed with malware and finally download LW Basic from the proper (official) site, link provided by Fabion. Now a general word of warning, using LW does not entitle you to download copyright music (music you can buy on CD). In fact you don't need LW to download legal music, for example, if you go to Amazon.com you can pay for and download CD singles or albums with your browser. And I believe that most big record stores have websites you can buy and download music from quite legally. Just remember that LW, as an organisation, does not have a central server or any single place where you can download music or films from. In fact, when you download with LW software you are downloading from lots of individual PCs, the P2P network purely consist of thousands of PCs, and LW has no control over what people may want to share. Hope you get your money back and that this missive clears a few things up for you. UK Bob |
