My Limewire program autostarts as soon as I boot up my machine. If I close the program it again starts automatically. Can anyone help me? Cheers BB:confused:

very easy to disable

Go to Tools -> Options
Go down to Advanced
Find the System Startup box
uncheck Run on System Startup

No, sorry, I should have said, I've tried this already, I've taken care of all the options within the program itself, it still auto loads. Basically if I can't solve it then I have no option but to remove the program entirely, which is not what I want. I did upgrade from an earlier version but the problem did not start immediately......perhaps I should consider a system restore????

try disabling it like i said, then rebooting the machine to find out if it worked. i think i saw something about you have to reboot to make it work.

if all else fails, in windoze do this:

start>run>msconfig then uncheck the box in the start menu settings, reboot

Update AV definitions and do a full system scan ASAP.

By the way, you obviously know what you're talking about. Somehow managed to land myself with W32.Alcra.B virus. This virus also attempts to disable some pieces of hardware too, for example my CDRW drive aswell as running Limewire at every opportunity. It took some shifting too, had to disable the the system restore, adopt safe mode and then run a virus scan to completely remove it.

Thank you very much for your help. If anyone else has this problem then go to symantec's website, it gives excellent details on how to remove this little blighter.

Cheers BB
