who/what is bearshare?

Who or what is bearshare? Is it part of Limewire? If so, why does it slow my system down anytime they download from me? If not part of LimeWire, i think I will stop them from d/l from me. Only happens with people from bearshare.

Bearshare is another free P2P app. It shouldnt slow you down though. it uses the same network as LW.

imagine your internet connection as a large garden hose. imagine if 10 people take straws to get water from your garden hose. instantly, you're moving less water through your hose. cut the people off the hose or get a bigger one ;)

thats how my uncle describes bandwidth to people to make them understand it easily.

Not sure how u can cut them off in LW. unless you block their hosts. I use both apps myself and have had no problems. you can limit your bandwidth in Limewire if you dont want them dling off you.
