Default Speed Connection

When I first downloaded LimeWire I had to select a connection speed. I have DSL so I selected Cable/DSL. Should I change it over to T1 or T3 even though my actual internet connection is DSL? I've heard that people have had better download speeds from doing this and could changing the speed affect my computer in any way?

Default Connection Speed

CyberStalker

I use DSL and my connection speed is now 2.2Mps, after my ISP upgraded my line from 1 to 2 megs.

I am having more problems with LW Pro 4.9.28 than with my connection but what is T1 and or T3?

I've been told that T1 and T3 connections are often used by businesses and that T1/T3's are more faster then Cable or DSL. Now I'm not sure if that's right or not.

I guess that T1 and T3 connection options are for people who run LW (Pro) on their office PCs, which I think is very risky.

Anyway, unless you're using LW from an office it's best to leave those options alone, unless you're filling lucky.

Am I not correct in thinking that the speed you put into options is solely an indication to other users, who are free to believe or not what you say? It does not actually affect your speed atall. That's what I thought anyway.

I have only once ever had a good experience with a T3 host, but it was no faster than many DSLs I have used.

From what I've noticed, the quickest downloads for me have been from T1 hosts.
