is this a free site, i think i have been had i was reading some of the threads and noticed that alot of people were scammed? i think i am one of them also. i purchased a life time membership for $30 plus $15 to download DVD's? It was through a site called filesharingcentre.com, does this sound right? |
Yes you have been! You'll find that site listed here Known Scam Sites LW Pro costs US $18.88 & LW Basic is free. I'd recommend you try to cancel the transaction thru your card company ASAP. Also negotiate with that company to see if they have a refund policy. Some do many don't. Be careful because some of those scam sites charge monthly or yearly or whatever. Make sure you cancel them properly from being able to access your finances again! And to top it off, you either ended up with LW Basic or a clone version of LW which could have viruses, spyware, adware, etc. |
Sorry you have indeed been scammed, but we are always kind to those who own up gracefully:) I hope you can get your money back or stop your CC payment. Also it is likely you have a version of Limewire which may not be exactly proper Limewire, and I would advise you to delete or uninstall every bit of it, and then get the free basic version from www.limewire.com If you like it you can upgrade to pro for $18,88 , but not until you understand what you are paying for and you consider it a price worth paying (as I do) Let us know what you decide to do, and take a look at the thread linked below if you have not already. It is a refreshing change to find someone who has browsed the forums BEFORE posting! I hope you stay with (the proper) Limewire :) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ight=%24%24%24 |
LOTR you are too quick for me :) |
thank u thanks for your help. i talked to the cc company, they can't do anything. but i called that filesharingcentre help desk # and supposedly he said he would refund my money. so lets see. i will remove this program from my computer and install the real deal. lets just hope i can start downloading some movies. thanks again. |
well even if he said he'll refund it they often keep like $10 and you'll have to fight for your money back threats for getting back your $$$: I am getting my attorney Seya in court for false charges I have copied and pasted this chat to a log Yes you cant bring em, to court just try and persuade them to give back your money |
Credit Card Company Rickster0003 Did your CC company give you a reason why they can't refund your money? After all, you are the victim of fraud and if, like most CCs in the UK, it has an anti-fraud scheme then surely it should refund your money without too much hassle. You know Rick, I get angry when I see people loosing their money to crooks while, it seems, the banks and credit card companies are complicit in perpetuating this scam on the public. After all, how did the scam sites get their start-up finance and banking facilities? Anyway, I hope you get your money back, if not from your credit card company then the scam site itself. UK Bob |
