![]() In Limewire 4.8.1 Pro what is the difference between 'Awaiting Sources' and 'Need More Sources'? 'Awaiting Sources' gives the option to 'Resume'. 'Need More Sources' gives the option to 'Find Sources' 'Find Sources' works a lot better than 'Resume'. |

![]() You are in the bearshare forum .... Never mind. You try to download a file, and after a while it changes to Need more sources. This means that the source(s) for that file have gone off line or otherwise are not available ..... USUALLY .... Sometimes for reasons I cannot fathom it only requies a click on resume to restart it. Usually if you click Find More Sources, a countdown will start and Limewire will search for the file on the network. It may find it and will start downloading. It may not, in which case it will change to Awaiting sources and may stay that way for weeks ![]() I find however if you start a new search for that file, and it does turn up in the search it often triggers the download into resuming. Of course you could also turn up a new version of the file which you can always download instead. Awaiting sources appears after Find sources has failed. This is why 'Find Sources' works a lot better than 'Resume' |

![]() Much as I suspected. All in all, it seems that the system works so long as a source stays available, and dies a horrible death when the source goes away. The suggestion the do a new search for a file is fine, if all you have is 1 or 2 files working. It seems that a good option for the system to make is to research all files in the waiting list. If a source goes down and the file goes into 'awaiting source" mode that seems to be a terminal illness. At that point the system just dies, as you indicated. AS far as I'm concerned, 'awaiting sources' is a pure waste of time for everyone, with virtually no solution given. |

![]() You're being alittle unfair on poor old awating sources ![]() I usually leave a number up and once a fortnight one might start reloading all on its own, which is always worthy of celebration! As I said, it is more often like once a week possibly, that doing a relevant search will triger one of these into re-starting ... but yes ... by and large it is a reasonably fruitless excercise ![]() I am not sure exactly what LW does to locate Awaiting Sources files. An answer to that from someone who knows would be interesting. |

![]() I agree, and I thank you. If I am in the wrong forum that is because I find it a bit less than clear as to how to get to the proper forum and post a thread. I'm afraid that the whole thing is a bit user unfriendly. Thanks again for your insight. Dev |

![]() If you come to the forums via LW's help menu or if you arrive here from the Limewire support site then you get here: Limewire Forum sections which is where you're supposed to post. How you ended up in the Bearshare section I don't know. I presume you went wandering. lol ![]() And don't forget these Forum Rules (click here) ![]() |
