Limewire ripoff
 
Limewire blues... I purchased Limewire Pro 4.25 in December '04.

Got notified that I needed to purchase the upgrades for $14.50 on 8/17/05..did this with a credit card.. I never recieved the downloadable link to the upgrade, the Limewire pro reset never recognized my e-mail address, Sent numerous e-mails to Lime wire staff, particularly( CNICPONSKI@LIMEWIRE.) sent order ID #'s and have verification e-mails, sent CC verification info.. blahh, blahh, blahh... sent all information necesary to recieve the product that I paid for..since Limewire doesn't reimburse and I don't even have the upgrade that I bought, GOT BURNED BY LIMEWIRE!!! and they have stopped resonding to my e-mails, especially since The last e- mail I sent 3 weeks ago with all the CC INFO, iNCLUDING THE REFERENCE NUMBER.

My next step is to file a compalint with the Dept. of Consumer Protection (CT). Next step is to file complaint with FTC.
Hey, I can live without the $14.50, it's the principle and lack of professional courtesy, toatal disregard to customer service and just plain arrogant indifference on the part of LimeWire LLC NY,NY
that is not justifiable. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?
Maybe some concerned staff memeber may be able to offer some assistance? So far, not yet. I didn't expect these people to be thieves, but my bad for having such expectations.

Not near as bad or annoying as your problem but still a pain.
I got the "buy now upgrade" offer but when I tried to subscribe the site refused to accept any form of credit card payment. I duly notified the webmaster who advised that he would pass my report on to the revelent parties. Tried to upgrade several times but no joy. A week later, having heard nothing from the " revelent parties" I tried to subscribe again. Wow success at last but alas without the special offer price.
Its only a trivial amount and I am only having a little moan, I will not abandon LimeWire over this, but it would have been nice if they had made contact.

Welp it really doesnt make a lot of sense to gripe and rant about it on the forum, you really need to contact Limewire and get them to respond to you one way or another. Ranting here, doesnt solve the problem because I doubt anyone would read it or take care of it from this end.

sphinx, if you read my post you'll see that I made every attempt to rectify and contact the staff at Limewire.. verification numbers, e-mail contacts and the such, so your indifference is neither warrented nor requested.

Why do people have a problem with those of us who complain about poor service.
Are we expected to sit by and accept poor service from those to whom we have paid our money.

Thanks UK BOB, I have tried that option... no response, other than from "cnicponski@support.com. We correspoded, until I gave her all of my verification info for my initial purchase of PRO, my card reference number, date of purchase and date of post to my card, My order verification ID.... haven't heard from her since. That was 3 weeks ago..maybe 4.
They sent me an e-mail thanking me for my purchase, "please go to limewire.com/support to find your link to download Lime wire Pro"...already had Pro... purchased the upgrade for 14.50... thought maybe it was a special price since I was already a customer... Went to the "support" they asked me for my e-mail address.. no matching records...funny, you just sent me an e-mail.

Whatever, same old story, Higly touted service fails to deliver, Way of the world.. no big deal... I will continue to bring to light their failings as a reputable company, No customer service, no phone numbers, although I may have an edge there.. anyway, I will continue to pursue, not for the money, but for the priciple and Cause... Justice for the Consumer!!

Just read the Bios on the limewire team..all that education.. Stanford, Yale, MIT, NYU AND BLAH BLAH BLAH.. You would think now... That a simple issue ... snafu..somewhere in this system, could be remedied... ALL THAT PUFFED UP, SELF ABSORBED, OH, LOOK AT ME AND WHAT I have done... simple customer service ... they can't do it... simple courtesy, professionalism...we will get back to ya..at least..they can't do it.. Gee, why am I not bewildered.. They have become, what at one time in their life, they frowned on... Oh, how things change!!
