Is there anyway to lock/password the program to stop your gorram housemates downloading files through limewire when you really really don't want them too?

It's getting pretty annoying and I'm not sure wether to use an outside program to help me, or if there is an option I can use within Limewire.

If you've ever had siblings/housemates/partners you'll know what I'm talking about.

Grrr.

No .... you will have to set your computer up for separate user accounts ... Or shoot your housemates:):D:)

Gah.. that's the thing. My PC is pretty much airtight.. but they find ways.

If I get up fro a drink it's like they've got an alarm system to get in and download as many hip hop/raggae tracks as they can find, then play them as loudly as possible around the place. It's driving me nuts!

I've got a few ideas for programs I can use.. I don't mind them using the PC for other things.. but I wan't limewire locked down..

Any suggestions for programs that will be succesful?

Hi Hampster

Only a Hobo was correct. What you need to do is setup different user accounts on your pc.

This is easily done on windowsXP. In start>help and support it gives instructions on how to do this. If you already have separate user accounts setup they can be accessed threw start>control panel>users accounts, also see next paragraph and apply.

2 key things to remember when doing this. 1. don't give the other user accounts administrative priviliges. 2 password protect your acount and password protect the administrative account windowsXP automatically setups. Don't forget the passwords, if you do you will be locked out of the administrative accounts to make changes or log into windows on one of those accounts.

Hehe.. thank you for the "back to basics" pointers..

Without wanting to sound arrogant about such a small pocket of information, I'm quite aware and capable of creating multiple user accounts.

I meant some kind of seperate software to lock only Limewire..

We all have a lot of stuff colaborated in the same place on the machine, and I don't really want to start trapsing through it all..

I will make another account if it comes to that.. but I'm looking for some form of global security software in the meantime.

Thanks for the help so far!

Sorry Hampster it looks like "Shoot the house mates:)"

There are ways you can stop Limewire from working and I'm sure you can suss out how to do that, and I'm equally sure your housemates will be able to undo your work. Good luck!
