Phex is great from what I hear. I've never tried it but would like to give it a go. You missed all the fun yesterday: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=45571
So life will go on with versions of LW even if we use pre 4.9.31 versions or use Frostwire. Don't worry, we'll not be beaten by the shiz of the big monopolistic dictatorship of the Ratsh*t In An Asshole.

I gather not all Sony's musicians are happy with DRM beind stuck all over their work. Switchfoot's message board has this, with a link to their response

I thought RIAA stood for something else, but I had the last word the same:):D

That sums it up nicely. They cannot stop Gnutella users. Where thre's a will, there's a way. Even if users have to go under ground. The RIAA can suck it.

Since LimeWire is open source, we will make DRM-free LimeWire versions available at http://www.frostwire.com

Last time I checked, Phex had a particularly harmful requerying algorithm and I advise against using it.

I'll stick to what I have for now until I can no longer use it. Ive used LW for a long time now and cant see myself switching to another app that I dont know. Im taking the wait and see approach to this.

I just started playing with Phex and it's very different from LW but I think might just get to like it. + it seems to connect to different parts of the network and picks up on things I couldn't find before + a second string seems wise

Only A Hobo,

what network does it connect to? Is it Gnutella? Hows the speed?

Only A Hobo September 28th, 2005 03:37 AM

Sphinx I've only just got it out of the box and I'm still playing with the wrapping. :)

Phex is a Gnutella client with the ability to connect to or set up private Networks you can set up yourself.

I really can't compare the speed as yet, but one thing I have noticed is that I always seem to connect as a leaf (unlike with LW where I am usually an ultrapeer and get connected to 10 ultreapeers by default. I think I can alter this in preferences, but I'm not touching that yet. And I feel some idiot could really mess the settings up if they don't understand them.... like me.

It gives a lot more connections to hosts outside limewire ... like Shareaza, but I haven't noticed any improvement in attempts to get files off them:)
