Default Why can't I share?

I have been sharing over 1,500 files quite successfully for 5 months but today, no matter what I do, LimeWire tells me I am sharing no files at all! Nothing has been changed on my computer and when I look at the folders I am sharing they still tell me they are available to be shared. Has anybody any idea what has happened?

hmmm ... go to Limewire options or preferences>sharing and you should see the list of your shared folders., also check that the Shared extensions is filled with an interminable list of file types and has not inadvertantly been cleared. Go to one or two of those folders and check if there are any files in them. Go to Limewire Library and see if your shared folders are showing up in black or red.. Please tell us exactly which version of Limewire you are using, If you have upgraded recently, and if you are able to search and download without problem. Also confirm that you have a good excellent or turbo-charged connection. I am assuming your file count on the bottom left hand corner of LW is reading zero.

Default Still can't share

Thanks Hobo, I had already done most of the checks you suggested but had no joy. Since I share three folders I have moved them from a holding folder to my desk top in case the fact that the holding folder was not, itself, shared had, somehow, affected them.
I do have the interminable list of file suffixes but the only folder LimeWire says I am sharing is 'Shared'. I have re-booted three times after ensuring that the sharing options were correct but LimeWire still can't see my three shared folders.
Yesterday there was no problem and I am still using version 4.9.30 of LimeWire and I have changed nothing in my computer. I am totally flummoxed!

Default Further information

I have a strong connection to LimeWire.
There has never been a problem down/up loading before.
LimeWire has full access through my firewall.
I have made npo changes since yesterday apart from moving my folders BECAUSE i thought it might solve the problem.
The file counter in the bottom left corner does indeed read '0'

I think the best thing to do would be to close Limewire (COMPLETELY). re-place your files you want to share in the locations you want them. Delete Limewires preference folder (with Limewire completely closed). restart Limewire, which will require you to reconfigure it, including the Shared folders. Let us know if this helps.

instuctions for deleting the Preferences folder are in this thread

Default Now I can share, again

Thanks for the ideas but none of them worked - however - what I ended up doing was to delete Limewire 4.9.30 completely and then install LimeWire 4.9.33 and, instead of running as compatible with Win. 95, selected Win. 98 (I am using XP for which there is no option).
My files were still not being shared but by right clicking on 'Shared files' in the Library options I was able to add the folders that were missing.

Unhappy but what has happened to the speed?

Having solved my sharing problem I am now back in the bad old days with download speeds oh 1KBs instead of the 40 - 60KBs I am used to. Is this a problem with Win. 98? All my settings and preferences are as they were before so, once again, I am totally at a loss.

Sorry ... I'm not too sure about the speed problem and this may be a Windows thing. Perhaps you should repost the speed question in the Down load/upload ( or possibly windows) forum
