What has happened to the SEARCH results?

I do a search for a certain artist (living or dead!) and get nothing back, or just a repeat of the artist's name with a count.

BTW, I am searching for song titles that are at least 40 years old, and that I have been unable to locate with record company searches. They are mostly 'b' sides or tunes that never made the Top 40 (Billboard) lists, but that I had on vinyl ... before a disaster took my entire collection away.

I have not been on-line with LimeWire for a couple of months, so perhaps something has changed in that time that everyone else considers ' old hat'. I am reluctant to download any of these 134.4KB files that show up with every search result ... that has a result at all. Do these files contain anything at all of value?

Hi again gooroo

those 134's are ads (usually for an iPod). The spammers found a way to mimic search terms, but the latest LW's are working on ways to ignore them. Check out the latest version to see if it helps. More on these at http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...125#post118125

watch out too for these files http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=41432

That's pretty much what I figured those 'results' to be. Thanks for the explanation (and confirmation of my concerns!). But that hardly explains the total lack of search results for an artist such as "Buddy Holly".

I am severals updates behind, so that is good advice!
Thanks for those links! I have eliminated .wma (and its similar varieties) from my searches, and I [I]never[I] accept .exe or .zip files (well, at least, not from unsolicited sources, as downloads) ... but the warning is still well taken. Just knowing about some of the malware possibilities is good (for me!), and someone else reading this thread may be a lot more 'at risk' than I am, and benefit even more.
