See Membership? - **WARNING ** BEWARE** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites & also see get your $$$ BACK!!! (music members)

LW Basic is FREE & LW Pro is US $18.88 from the official site: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

It's recommended you start with the free version before getting the pro version so you know how it works & can sort out any small issues.

BTW where did you get it? Is is listed here: Known Scam Sites

Thanks for the response, but I'm still a little confused.....
I neglect to say I also signed up for unlimited movies.....
So the real problem is I got limewire pro on my computer at work but on my computer at home it only let me download limewire.....
My email address that I signed up for don't work to allow me access to my account. How can I access my accont to see what I did purchase????

Thanks for any feedback..

Please press the Reply button, not the New Thread button when replying to a thread.

I don't think you read the links I gave you. You obviously got your LW from a scam site. And no doubt you paid for LW Basic & not LW pro. To check see this link (please click the underlined links I leave): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=46629

We can't help you with the scam site. We only support officially obtained LW. We can advise how to get your money back but that's all. Your email account does not work at the official site because that's not where your purchased it. And LW does NOT advertise free movies or lifetime membership.

my problem is that I have limewire pro on my work computer

Is that not possible?.....

But are you sure you have LW Pro? That's what I was asking. You have bought your LW from a scam site & scam sites only offer the free version; LW Basic. If you bought LW Pro for $18.88 from the "Official LW site" which gives you 6 mths of free updates & support, then your email address should work if it was purchased less than 6 mths ago. Please look at all the links I left above. When you get back to work, have a look under the LW help menu > About LW & I think you'll find you don't have LW Pro.

bessnap October 19th, 2005 01:36 PM

limewire pro

Yes the link you gave me I have (About limewire).....
I'm at work now....
But at home it wouldn't let me download limewire pro...

So this is what you see? If it doesn't say pro then you don't have pro. AFAIK There is no way you could have LW Pro if you paid $33, since LW Pro only costs $18.88

Go back to where you paid the money & ask them about how to update your version or get another copy. If you're 100% adamant you paid $18.88 to the official site then they should have your email address on their system. Send a pm to mformel. She is a member of this forum.

Only A Hobo October 19th, 2005 01:42 PM

bessnap. Now ... I'm a bit confused. So let's start again.

Facts about Limewire.

Limewire or Limewire basis costs nothing and can be obtained from www.limewire.com

From the same address you can purchase Limewire Pro at a cost of $US18.88

There is nothing else that you can buy from limewire. They do not sell unlimited subscriptions to Movie downloads, Anti Virus protection, spy ware protection, or lifetime membership to anything .... even the Playboy club.
If you have bought any of these things you have bought them and Limewire from a Scam site .... NOT Limewire. Limewire cannot help with the billing problems as it was not them you paid.

If you go to Limewire>About. ... or Help>about on windo$e I think, You will see exactly which version of Limewire you have.

It may be you have a legitimate copy of Limewire on one computer. We need to know exactly which version you have on each computer, and which computer is giving the apparent problem.

~Ihave read all Lord of the Ring's posts assuming something had been left out ... but no ... everything is there. So please read everything again ... and then you should understand the situation.

I'm afraid it does. I would try to stop your payment or get a refund, but this may be difficult depending on how long ago it was.

Let us know if we can be any more help.

You can of course download Limewire basic from www.limewire.com for free, and I hope you will!, and I have a sneaky feeling this is what you will find you have on your other computer.

Unfortunately yes. If you see my 2nd link about Music members get your money back, I think that's to do with the very same site. So some advice is given there about how to get a refund. Failing that, complain to your credit card company & explain it was a fraud/scam & didn't get what you paid for. Most C/card companies have special sections that deal with this type of issue.

Oh ... I must be a slow typer lol :D

limewire

I got a response from allcoolmusic.com and they say they use limewire also for filesharing....also they provide tools to help with
search, downloads etc.
So I was just wondering why you two don't associate with each other?

bess

Lord of the Rings October 20th, 2005 09:16 AM

Because Allcoolmusic are "users". They don't own or did they create Limewire (LW). But they sell the FREE version at almost double the price of the pro version. And they send their members here for help. Help they didn't pay for. Since when did Allcoolmusic give me any money or rewards for helping on the forum? It's the equivalent of me selling copied CD's. ie: making money out of something I don't own the copyright to, or perform on. I'm sure they would sell non-existent insurance or drugs if they couldn't think of anything else to sell. The LW organisation don't get a cent of money from Allcoolmusic. Yet the LW org. develops the program. Businesses like ACM are leeches IMO. Excuse the strong words, but I despise what they have done to cheat so many people out of their money for something they could have got for free anyway. At no time on their website do they say, look go to the official site & you can get it for free. What they do is mislead people. And they trick them by advertising with unlimited downlds, all the movies, games & music you want, lifetime memberships, etc. Lifetime membership to the free version of LW. :( No, con artists are not my type of people.

bessnap October 20th, 2005 10:19 AM

limewire

Yes, you are right to all the above, but yet they are "users" of limewire.... and no they don't tell about the free download version...but also without them I would not have heard about limewire....And now that I did I will be swapping after my year is up. So thanks, I still do feel stuck and cheated but they do offer tools to download that otherwise I would have to purchase or search for with little effort to find on the net....

Thanks

I dont mean to be rude but the tools and all software they provide you are all free downloads and if by chance they keep charging your card in the upcoming months you will then think their not ok. Dont let them get away with it......

Those exact tools are also FREE if you had visited the official site & thus forum 1st. Spyware, adware, etc. utilities, CODECs, all are FREE.

1. CODECs list and alternate players for Movies (almost ALL are free)

2. (A) ad-ware (FREE), _ (B) Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) _ (C) Peerguardian (FREE)

* Sorry if the tone sounds hard, we're only trying to help you. And not let you become an ongoing victim. You could have it all for free. ;)

wondering why October 21st, 2005 01:27 AM

Thats right LOTR, Im agreeing as I to was a victim of one of those sites, maybe a solution to the problem would be LW having a web site which is right along side of the rip off ones. When I was searching for a download site I typed movie downloads into google and all the rip offs are there one after another all you do then is pick the that sounds honest, they even have a top ten site telling you that there the ligit ones. As many others before me who havn't heard of LW this could be a solution which then would stick it right up the scammers lol.

Catch u later....:D

6_pac October 21st, 2005 03:19 AM

I think the truth is, is that anyone can be scammed! The only thing that saved me is that I knew a friend at work that had already downloaded a p2p app. and I knew he didn't pay for it. So i kept searching until I found the free ones. I almost bought into the $.99 a month all you can d/l site, but I knew that wasn't right. Alot of people don't, and it"s really not their fault.(you only know what you know, and what you don't you don't) So go easy on the newbies. Thanks for the rant:).

I am almost sympathetic to your post, you are right when you point out that a person “only know what they know” but we all have a certain amount of common sense and we all have the ability to check things out before parting with our money. The problem, as I see it, is that newbies do not do any checks at all and seem to suffer from “common sense” failure.

It looks like scamming sites are on the increase, specifically there to prey on the ever-increasing number of newbies charging onto the internet, I suppose what it will eventually come down to, as in nature, is the survival of the fittest.

I know I have a cd/dvd burner but the dvd burner seems not to be working....

yes burning video dvds...when I try using a burning program its not reading the drive...its saying insert a blank dvd when I already have a blank drive in...

thank

Lord of the Rings October 25th, 2005 08:53 AM

What program are you using to burn & what version is it? It may require an update. Do you have the "full" version of the burner program or the "lite" version. It might not be able to burn dvd's.

What is your brand & model of dvd burner?

The other issue might be the dvd media. Are you using DVD- or DVD+ disks. Make sure both your burner & the burner program can burn both! Also some burners are brand sensitive (ie: don't burn well with some brands of dvd.)

I believe its a Ulead program/creator which allows me (i hope)
to all access to burn

Lord of the Rings October 25th, 2005 09:04 AM

Ulead comes with some burner brands. Tell us about your burner. Let's find out which media it can burn. As I said, some burners can only burn dvd plus, some dvd minus & some both types. dvd- & + are like the differences between beta & vhs video. They do the same thing but are different formats. So if you have a dvd- disk, try a dvd+ disk. If you have a dvd RW burner, try it out on a dvd-/+rw disk if you have one.

I have 52x32x52 cdrw & 16xdvd ide drive...it uses all dvd+r,rw,etc. and it came with nero express do I need anything else...?

Lord of the Rings October 25th, 2005 09:19 AM

What brand & model is it?

Are you using a dvd+ disk to try to burn with. Double-check that it says dvd+R & not dvd-R. Or can it burn both?

What version of Nero is it? I think you need at least Nero version 6 to burn dvd's. And what's more, Nero might not fully recognise your burner unless you have all the updates for it. Particularly if it's very new model of burner. If you have Nero v.5 then you'd at least need xtra mpeg2 plug-ins to burn video dvd's & probably updates to recognise your burner for burning dvd's.

Another thought, what size disk is it you're using? Is it 4.7 GB or 8.5 GB disk? http://www.answers.com/topic/dvd

Thanks I will check that out and go from there..

Lord of the Rings October 25th, 2005 09:50 AM

I was just looking at it, it looks very impressive! http://www.artecusa.com/products-dvd%2Brw.html

If updating software doesn't fix the issue, try another brand of DVD. There's also updates for software, firmware, drivers, etc. from here: http://www.artecusa.com/tech-support.html
Failing that, http://club.cdfreaks.com/lite/

I presume burning cd's is fine right?
