Viruses In Larger Files Too!

I just had to go through hell whiping it from my system. So, there goes the myth that viruses/trojans/worms come in small packages. I dont know how because I dont download software or games, just music but I got infested. Gnutella is really going downhill. Is there any straight free music networks out there besides Gnutella?

What type of file was it? was it an mp3,wma, or something else. Just so I know what to look out for.
Thanks in advance:).

Either these hacks are getting smarter or I did something real stupid. I only download MP3 files or what I though was an MP3 file which was pretty large. or it was software renamed as a MP3 still cant figure it out. Not to name it but I tried to dl a full album.

Hmm, I don't know but thanks for the heads up:).

I cant say it on here but what I found inside thanks to my AV was not a MP3 file so beware what you download, no matter how big or small and no matter what extension. Guess I'll stick to MP3 singles from now on.

I have a Avast Home Edition (free anti-virus, good kind) while i was downloading, Avast scanning my p2p file, incompleted file and completed file to make sure there no virus lurking around those file. it caught one while i was downloading and Avast warned me about the file i was downloading from p2p, so i cut off the file and use Eraser to 7 passes erase it. Avast save my computer life again....

It kinda takes the fun out of downloading, doesn't it? I use the free version of AntiVir XP and it has saved my hard drive more times than I can count. I cant see how anyone can download without an AV! If I just stick to the MP3 singles, I seem to be fine. But I have been scanning those too just incase. ;)

Hi-Jackings

Sphinx & Limewirer

I wholeheartedly agree with you guys about not venturing onto the network without your AV running but, as you know, we (the converted ones) are not the problem, it newbies and novices.

Anyway, there seem to be an increase in hi-jackings, users "jacked" away from the LW site and taken to a scam site. Again, this is caused by victims (mainly newbies and novices) not protecting their PCs.

When will they ever learn.

What on earth makes you think WinMX was or is virus free I used WinMx for many years and there are as many viruses on it as there are anywhere else. Scan Scan Scan always protect yourself

I don't have a clue whether this is related but ... new mp3 spam: autogenerated mp3 spam results I don't know what they are as I wasn't brave enough to downld them.
