why only 8 hosts?

Why is it that no matter how many people have the file that I want to download, I can only download form 8 hosts at a time? Is there somewhere that I can change this?

I may be wrong, but I think Pro connects to 10 hosts. That's the way LW is designed so that there's always slots open for people to connect to. If people are connected to 100 hosts, then that's 90+ slots that people won't be able to connect with or should i say, 90 odd people won't be able to connect with those hosts. It's designed so people connect more easily. I believe the problem with winmx (which has since died), was that people would be in queues for long, long periods. pita
Oh & for ultrapeers, if all their slots are full, then so so many people wouldn't be able to connect to the network & the network would be overworked. And it also reduces network traffic which could otherwise slow to a crawl. Thus it keeps the network healthy to limit the no. of hosts.

IF you want more host then get Phex, it connected up to 15 hosts, i think. my Phex hosts is random number, sometime it connect 6 hosts, or 8 hosts, or 7 hosts. but the maximum i got is 13 or 14 hosts. not bad

Is there a limit connect to hosts in Phex?
