Maybe everyone would be better off putting the word 'scam' at the end of any search they do involving use of their credit card(i.e. 'best music or films downloads scam', 'limewire scam', 'movie downloads scam'). This could be done for researching bogus email too. Hopefully someone will read this before it happens to them.

Thanks to this forum, I know that I was also scammed. I was scammed on 9/12/05. I got my money back (even though more than a month had past) by calling my bank. I had paid using a debit card. The telephone number listed on my transaction was 1-866-488-0790 and the transaction was identified by IP-P2PSUPPORT.NET. That is what the scam company was going by then. No telling what name they are using today and the phone number probably does not work. I never even tried it. I told my bank that this transaction was a fraud. I paid for something that was available for free. Also, as to how I found the scam site. I did a Google search looking for a new download site. I came across a site that does download site reviews. The first reviewed site with the highest rating is the one I checked out first. And it was the one I got scammed with. I am sure that the review site is a front for the scam site. The sad part is, more than likely, the bank will just write the loss off since it was only $22.46. So the scam site wins in the end.

I am not replying to anything except all the comments on Bitzi. I, too, have had it with all the jerks who supposedly share movies and when you do a check on Bitzi it is either another movie, mostly porn, or Trojans or other viruses. It is time, Limewire, that you find a way to check every single movie yourselves and delete all that junk if they are not what they are advertised as. I have been trying to download just one movie for two months and have not been able to get A SINGLE COPY THAT ISN'T SOMETHING ELSE OR A VIRUS. You are so irresponsible by allowing all the crap to be on your software and make us pay for it. Take some responsibility and look after your customers. There are probably thousands who share genuine, good movies, but there is always that element who destroy it for everyone. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SOFTWARE AND DELETE ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT OBEYING THE RULES AND MAKING IT A MISERY FOR ALL THE PEOPLE DOING THE RIGHT THING.
I WILL NEVER BE RENEWING MY MEMBERSHIP UNTIL YOU MAKE SURE YOU ARE SELLING A PRODUCT WHICH IS RESPONSIBILITY RUN AND I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WHO FEEL THE SAME.

not that I'm any big proponent of LW, but I must say your post smacks of complete ignorance...any sort of controls you desire would make LW, or any other filesharing app., illegal....if you want such guarantee of kwality then go to the store and buy the products....

Perregrine, Not only have you revived an almost 4 yr. old Thread, but you obviously don't know anything about Limewire and the Gnutella Network.

Should probably Read up on P2P before making a fool of yourself.

Firstly, Limewire is a program that gives you the opportunity to connect to and use the Gnutella Network. LW has Absolutly Nothing to do with Files being shared. The Files are on Other peoples computers, hince the Term, Peer to Peer.

LW has No Central Server which means there are No files In LW, which also means they have No control over what is being shared on the Network.

If you are going to use such programs, it's Your Responsibility to Research and Learn what you are getting yourself into.

Talking about old threads, here's a post from one that explains 'something' about the little games that happen on the Gnutella network: Quality of Content on the Network
