mutiple artist entries I am having trouble trying to figure out why I am ending up with multiple entries on my ipod. For example I have I have 2 entries for a particular artist and 4 for another and many many artists display multiples as well. Why is this happing? Also I can’t figure out how to clear it up on the ipod. |
Are loading your entire iTunes onto the ipod automatically or selected play lists. or are you loading the iPod manually. Also are you on Windows or Mac. |
I am on windows NT. And I am docking the ipod and loading the entire itunes I guess automatically? When I originally bring the songs in I had been using add folder to library. |
To clarify I am updating the entire itunes not just play lists. |
Are you quite sure you do not have these multiple entries on iTunes also? For instance you can have an artist title with a space after it and this will file differently from the same name with no space after it. Also are the different Artist entries duplicates or different songs? You can check for duplicate songs in iTunes at edit ... show duplicate songs. I must get some sleep now, but I'll be back:) |
I kind of figured this as far as the name and have found many problems with the artist and song name thing. BUT can you tell if there is a discrepancy with only the artist name or can any other tag info make problems? I will check to see if duplicate songs are the issue. |
As far as iPod is concerned, I don't think it matters in the slightest what is on the tags. The iPod should copy exactly what you have on iTunes. You can open the Browse function on iTunes to show artist and album and looking down the respective lists it should be possible to see of any repeated names. I feel reasonably certain that you will have double entries on iTunes, and if you correct them iPod will correct next time you up date it. If after a thorough check that your iTunes listings are ok ... remember you can order each column in the library by clicking on the top of it. ... your iPod will still not update correctly, only then would I reconsider restoring iPod. |
