is limewire legal, I need to know before I download it and it be illegal please reply! and if it is not illegal please explain why it is not illegal

Limewire is a perfectly legal peer to peer Filesharing application. It is legal to use it for the transfer of files which are not subject to copyright restrictions. If used for the transfer of Copyright materials, in certain parts of the world, people using it for such purposes might well be breaking the law.

Not all songs are copyright controlled, but if they are yes you are correct, depending of course on your local laws.

Without creating a list, which I am not about to do I can tell you that there is a huge amount of music freely available quite legally on the web. and no none of this music is in the top 40.
