accidently deleted songs i accidently deleted alot of my songs is there anyway i can restore them without re downloading them |
You'll need a file recovery program. Norton Utilities is good. Otherwise FREE ones are here: 1. PC Inspector File Recovery (click on link), & also 2. Restoration (click on link) Read the manual before using. Also, don't downld it onto the same partition as your lost files are. Or save anything else onto the same area. That will overwrite the files & reduces chances or recovery. XP users see: System restore for deleted files & http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx But some people say this doesn't work! |

Limewire messed up moving a finished 700+ MB videofile from the incomplete folder to the saved folder. The whole thing was gone in to thin air. And worst of all I wasn't there so Limewire was still running and downloading at moderate speeds for over 4 hours. Tried using Restoration to recover the file. I got all but 6 minutes of the file. The 6 minutes were either completely gone or only audio while video jumped from scene to scene. Incredible luck that the whole file wasn't overwritten. Using XP, 40 GB harddisk, took Restoration 30 seconds to find the file. :) :) :) BTW Tried PC Inspector (Windows message kept popping up saying that I performed an illegal action and froze the program) So I say Restoration (A+) PC Inspector (F) ;) |
Just yesterday someone else complained about PC Inspector saying a similar thing, but Restoration seemed to work fine. Not sure why you should have had that problem with a file disappearing. |
The only thing out of the ordinary is that I used a magnetlink from Bitzi to get the download. A file was made in the saved folder which was 0 byte. Might be because I use an old version 4.9.37PRO. Or just some strange occurance. I has never happened before :) I can live with losing 6-7 minutes of the movie since it's in the first half hour (Just hope it isn't the whole plot :D) |
you could always try system resore. Though I'm not sure if that would resore song files, I see no reason why it would not. |
It will not + I got two other files after which would be gone instead :D |
The "Data Recovery Wizard" program worked for me when I accidently deleted some files. |
Hi I'm a Newbie on this, But my girlfriend just dleted all my songs in my library and I tried a system restore to no evail. Probably 1000 songs or more. She told me we don't need them if we have them all on itunes!!!!! Now my Itunes wont's play the songs for they r all deleted out of limewire! Any suggestions...... This is painful! |
No they wont play once they have been deleted from your LW library, even though they are still listed in itunes...Their gone.... The best advice I can give is to use one of the recovery programs the guys have listed above....Good luck I hope you get them back...:rolleyes_2: |
Hey ffthorne, Just for future refrence If you upgrade to 4.13 beta everything that is deleted will now go to the recycle bin so you will have a chance to recover what gets deleted. Dude I would have to delete that girlfriend!!! Good Luck |
Also, if you add the songs to iTunes Music Library then you won't need to worry about deletion of songs. Whatever you do, don't think that just because you see a LW playlist within iTunes that the songs have been added to the iTunes library. The LW playlist is simply a playlist which reflects what songs you have in your LW download folder. So ignore the LW playlist in iTUnes. To add songs to iTunes Music Library, see How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes). You will notice there are many techniques to add songs from LW to iTunes music library. ;) :) |
