Barring Adult Content I need help. I subscribed to Limewire for my children but a lot of searches come up with inappropriate adult material. Before I let them use the programme how can I bar this sort of material appearing. Many thanks (ps Could not see this topic on the forum elsewhere.) |
It's been discussed in the Limewire Forum sections previously. I moved your thread. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Filters>Keywords & tick Ignore adult content & press apply. How to use the Keyword Filter Also add the following words (you only need to do it once): Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results (I can't post these terms on the forum so you need to click the link yourself.) You said you subscribed to LW. I hope you only paid US $18.88! See Membership? - **WARNING ** - Download p2p Clients ONLY Thru Official Sites LW Basic is free by the way. |
ok, i did all the things on here, and clicked the links(sorry to butt in...but i was having the same problem at my house)...but even after i entered all the keywords, and i would go search the adult content(to make sure there was no way there would be adult content showing up) there would still be over 600 items found! i guess there isn't any way to really block all of these items w/out blocking video's all together is there? i don't think there would really be too much else downloaded around here besides music video's or tv show clips maybe...but is there a way to keep it where ALL the porn is blocked from viewing, but we could still do a search for music video's or tv clips and download them? i hope this isn't too confusing! thanks! |
To be blunt, Limewire is not a kids toy. a lot of marerial comes through under an innocent film or song title which is in fact porn. No amount of filtering will make it childproof, and any child with half a brain should be able to dissable any filters you may put on it. The filters are useful to people who get offended by such stuff or just don't want it cluttering up their search results, but you need a pretty broad vocabulary, to apply the filters in the first place. If children are to use limewire, and you wish to control what they do with it, it should be under strict supervision. |
