limewire locks up limewire locks up my computer so the only way I can restart is by interrupting power and rebooting. Windows XP and cable internet. Tried disabling all spyware, adware popup blockers as well as disabling firewall. nothing works. I have never gotten limewire to work at all. Have I been scammed or can someone help me? |

As to your problem, well don't abuse the Resume/Find Sources function. If you use that function on all your files then it will use up all LW's & all your computer's resources & all your bandwidth. It can have severe side-FX!!! Reduce your Uploads & downlds to 80% or drop it at least 15% from what it's set to now. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Speed & tick the option to Disable Ultrapeer capability & press apply button. Try not to downld too many files simultaneously. After opening LW, wait 15-25 mins before using. Let it settle 1st to load incompletes, shared files & try for itself to connect to the incomplete files which it does one by one. Oh I didn't realise you said you never got it to work at all. I missed that part. Make sure you have Java 1.5 or 1.4.2 Perhaps swapping the versions of Java will fix it for you. If you already have 1.5 then uninstall using add/remove control panel. Then install 1.4.2 using the "Offline" installer. Links for this in point #1 here Fixes for Limewire Do point #2 in that link also. If you're using LW Basic, then it might also be a good idea to reinstall it using the "Offline" LW installer. |
