cant play AVI

i cant play AVI off microsoft mediaplayer, what do i use to play them? and how do i switch over to paly them on that program?

VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) as it has in-built codecs & is generally very reliable. Most windows programs will ask if they want you to make them the default. But otherwise, see Setting Default video app
