New guy here with a potientially dumb question...

Hey!

I've been using Limewire for a year or so now and love it! Here's a question though: If I need parenthesis in the search area (ie Title (remix) or (live version) or (instrumental)), how do I do it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone? Bueller?

wondering why November 21st, 2005 05:24 PM

Try typing it in after the file name, maybe....?

Nope...here's the problem... Let's say I'm looking for a remixed version of a song called "song". I have to type in "song remix" instead of how it's really titled, which is "song (remix)". Parenthesis don't work. I have a feeling this adversely affects the search results, but I could be wrong. Any advice, hints, tips, etc?

you cant use funny characters in your seraches use a dash like - instead as "" wont showup. type in: example: artist - title - remix - or - feet etc. or use a + plus sign.

Cool! Thanks Sphinx! I'll give it a shot! By the way, I'm looking for a few rather rare tracks. Would it be against the rules to name them just to see if they're out there somewhere?

It would be against the rules but thanks for asking.

you are sadly mistaken...the gnutella network is on everyone's computers....there is no central server, there are no 'databases', etc...

The_Point being, just how do you expect any of us to 'know' what is on the network at any given time?....

code1: another tip, in Limewire use the advanced searchbox, make it drop down, then you can do example: artist - title - remix etc without the dashes. if you dont want to type that all in just use the box and audio category :D

Wow! I'm already getting sniped. Peerless, I thought Limewire was just a bunch of Audiogalaxy and Napster refugees locked in a room somewhere with a huge server and a lifetime supply of pocket protecters and Magic The Gathering cards. You mean you can't shake your magic 8 ball and tell me whats on the net at any given time?...Relax dude, I know this. I just wanted to know if I could ask if anyone had a few specific tracks on their own PERSONAL computer or in their CD collection...but thanks for your input Pointless, uh, Peerless.
Thanks for the heads up Grandpa; I snooped around the forums awhile before I registered, so I had somewhat of an idea what would fly here and what wouldn't. Thanks for the tips Sphinx; I'll try them today.
