Sharing Files

QUESTION: When I look at files being uploaded and the "Browse Host" is not lit does this mean that they are not sharing?

What does it mean when you get a message that it cannot browse the host files (the light was lit)?

If you cannot use the Browse Host feature, it means that for one reason or another you cannot browse them This might be because they are behind a firewall, they may use a Client that is unbrowsable by Limewire, possibly they might not be sharing, but it would be totally wrong to assume they are not sharing.

The "cannot browse host" message appears, again for a number of reasons, and one of those is quite possibly that the host has JUST gone off line.

On the other side of the coin a host has been online all day today, showing Browse host and chat enabled. I can browse them no problem, but every time I try to download I get "need more sourses"

In short there are no exact answer. I hope this helps a bit.

Another reason is I think they may need to have open slots & possibly available bandwidth (not sure about bandw.) Not being able to browse is not something you can reliably draw conclusions about. It may also be related to net traffic/congestion, etc.

eg: I've tried to browse someone & got zero results. 5 mins later I was able to browse them & got about 60 odd files showing in the results. Another later browse & it came up with over 600 files for the same person. So ... why couldn't I browse them the 1st time! lol :D I've frequently noticed this. Also with subsequent browses you may find you get different amounts of files showing as suggested (whilst this may also accumulate others with same files in the results ... that's not necessarily the primary reason.) I've been downlding from someone & no matter how many times I browsed them, the file I was downlding wouldn't show in the browse search results. When someone is uploading from you, it is much easier to browse them if they have the chat icon showing. This is particularly so for uploaders.
