cd-r =you can only burn it the once so fill it up 80mins approx
cd-rw = you can burn on it over and over
Same goes for dvd-r and dvd-rw

Just watch what brands you use as well because some players wont play them.....
I stick with imation brand its good......;)

I think you would put it on dvd

You also have to know what type of discs your DVD burner will read. Ours will read both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. Does your burner only read - or + or both? If it only reads the + then the - discs won't work in your burner. Also, when burning videos or movies you need the DVD discs. CD's are for storing information or for songs.:)

CDs are used for (s)vcd format files (mpeg1 and mpg2)

DVDs are for dvd format files (this usually requires conversion)

What are the differences between mpeg1, mpg2, etc? I know that an avi can be compressed but that's about it.
