I am new to lime wire what are the file types

avi
mov
mp4
mpg

which is the best for videos,pictures
etc

I don't know about the others but an .avi can be compressed. As for which one is best, I think all of them are equally good although I personally prefer avi's.

All video formats

AVI best,
Mpg (or Mpeg) next best, (larger for same file quality)
Mp4 just another version of AVI, but may be encrypted / licenced
Mov - good format but pain in the but, usually full of malware / browser popups, or requires licence

the other format you missed which is common is real media files
