Patrick, Are you and your Dad on speaking tems... because unless we know what sort of filter you are talking about it is hard to answer your question. Has he installed a firewall, or anti virus software, or what.? Has he fitted something to stop you using Limewire or is he happy for you to use it and just taking sensible security measures?

lol yes we are on speaking terms,he has just put a filter called K9 on,just because he knows what kinda sites teenage lads visit lol, anyway ive been using limewire for ages and had no problems at all,and he doesnt mind me using it,although he does a bit as the firewall is off while limewire is running, its just that fact that now i can't download anything at all, nothing appears in the download box at all when i try to download tracks...........its really anoying to say the least, could it be something else?

Are you sure it's not this License requirement (click on link) where Reverting Popups to default might fix it. ?!

I don't know about that filter, but there's ones around such as http://www.sandvine.com/products/p2p_element.asp (there's many others) that can filter more than just porn/p'sites, etc.

There's more around but these ones are mainly bandwidth filters. There are more that can filter multiple things: http://www.zeropaid.com/news/article.../02152005g.php

Quickly looking up a bit about K9 it sems that you will need to configure K9 to allow gnutella/Limewire and through specific ports. I get the impression you will be unable to download until this has been done. I guess this will be in the manual, I hope!
