is p2p illegal?? can i get in trouble with the law?? limewire is my main mp3 dl program and i have about 100 or so songs from it. is filesharing illegal in the U.S.? Can the government get involved? Can i get sued and is there any precautions i can take to lower these chance?? Those are just some questions i have. any replies or help is greatly accepted |
most files are copyrighted and yes those files are illegal to download and share. But, you can find files that are not copyrighted. Don't ask me how. |
The only reason P2P became illigal in the first place was because the RIAA discovered Napster the first time around. Everything is copyrighted period, from games/movies/software/MP3's. If you are that paranoid then keep your file shares set to a low number and dont go over the thousand plus limit or the RIAA spybots will scan your IP. Just play it safe and happy downloading. ;) |
so i can basically dl songs as long as i dont go overboard?? what happens if i un-share my files.....does that change anything?? and whats the deal with those spybots or w/e they are, what do they do? |
Technically you can download, just not distribute or copy to another form of storage (eg. cd) |
