Default Newbie - Question about shared files

Hi,
I was wondering if dropping aliases/shortcuts in the shared folder will work.
I have quite a few medium to large movie files I can put in my shared folder, but because of the way I have my HD's organized, I would have to duplicate these large files. (rather than just move them to the shared folder) And I would rather not do that if possible.

Thanks,

Murgatroid

I have to confess to not having the slightest idea, but if you have your movies in one particular folder, can you not create a shared folder in that folder and move what you want to share into the shared folder, and share that folder. That would be my solution, but I guess you can experiment with short cuts to see if they work. I somehow doubt it, but you can but try

BTW are you using Bearshare, or Limewire. I have answered from a Limewire perspective, ... A number of posts end up here having lost their way

Default Thanks

Thanks for replying OAH,

I'm trying to avoid moving the large movie files, because of the way I have my HD's (start up and a LaCie external) organized.

I'm using Lime Wire - newbie.

Maybe you could do me a favor and do a search for Ben Hur-Chariot Race.dv, and see what shows up on your end. Ben Hur is an alias. If that doesn't work, search for TM-Singing Number.dv (From Another Teen Movie) This is a real file in my shared folder. Both can be viewed with QT, VLC, and MPlayer.

Thanks again,

Murgatroid

Nothing showing for either I'm afraid. Proof that no search is conclusive. I'll try again in a few minutes, I am getting a hell of a lot of auto generated junk results

No results again. I'm using Phex ... Limewire might give different results, but right now I need sleep
