Isn't LimeWire... illegal?

Isn't LimeWire illegal? I mean, shouldn't you have to pay for music? I thought sharing and downloading music files for free was stealing. Tell me what you think.

I understand that some people only load up non-copyrighted files, and that's ok. But I'm sure plenty of users put up copyrighted files. So basically we're stealing off people who put hard work into their music.

i will probably get 'slated' for saying this but, hard work? i wouldn't call these pop singers hard workers?

have you seen that documentry on discovery 'deadlest catch'? thats hard work!

a surgeon who has to do a 36 hour operation, thats hard work!

i was flicking through my wifes 'celeb' mag the other night and it had an amazing article!

on one page was a certain pop star saying how there is no money in the music industry anymore as the internet and its piracy is slowly suffocating it, and as you turned the page that SAME pop star was off their box on drugs, dribbling and puking outside there £2 million mansion!

I know for a fact that if it wasn't for limewire then i i would never have heard half the bands i listen to (i listen to metal). And thus would never have been able to buy their CDs

Ok, so mabye artsists don't have a particularly grueling and difficult job, but isn't it still wrong to steal? I agree that celebrities get paid too much, and civil workers too little, but is that a reason to take so something that you have no right to?

Whoah whoah whoah, the record companies are making it perfectly clear that it's ok, they add a tax on blank cd's and mp3 players, we start downloading more music, and now, they want to tell us to pay more? They're powertripping, and I think that they should shove it. I'm not going to pay $20 for a cd with only 1 good song. I'll download the 1 song and pay a bit over $1 for the cd.

How can you go out and pay '$1for the cd' ? because nowhere is gonna sell you a CD for $1. Either you've phrased that badly... or it makes no sense.

So...

So what would be legal to download and what would be illegal?

I don't really understand.

Plus, Limewire has companies that donate money so it makes it legal, right?

?

I am kind of confused!

Well Pheonix, I guess anything un-copyrighted is legal to download. Everything else is illegal, I think...
