Limewire Won't Stop Starting

Well, this happened about two days ago. I started my computer as usally and Limewire opened at startup, but i could have swore I disabled that option. And so i look and sure enough it was. So i just closed limewire and thought nothing about it. Next thing i know in 2mins limewire was back up again and running. and im like WTF! So I close it again. and it comes up again. close then it opens again. same thing over and over. so right now i just left it up and decided i need to come to the help forums. Can anyone help me slove this problem?

Thanx.
-Chris

Limewire wont stop starting still!

Ok, well i followed the directions as posted on that there link. I do not have the winupdate virus as described, yet I'm still having problems with limewire self starting and closing... In fact apparently i have been ale to uninstall one version of limewire, but the other still exists and i cant delete the files.
And I'm also bombarded with several pop ups too!
Anyone have any ideas?

It doesn't have to be "winupdate" - that's just a common mask for the virus. It is usually the program that is taking up close to 100% CPU (except for "system idle") when you open up task manager.

As with uninstalling LW, have you tried uninstalling it via the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in the CONTROL PANEL? The only addition advice i can give is to use the search function on this website to have a look for other answers.

Good luck.

I have uninstalled it from there. Ive also gone in and deleted any files that have to do with LW.

There was a process called 'cleanmgr' that was taking up like 99%. I would have ended it, but i wasnt sure if that was a legitamate file or not...

thank you for your reply!!!

Mary
