Not Sure What I'm Doing? :(

Hello everyone! I’m new and I need some help.
I have tried to search past posts to see if I could find the answers to my questions but I had no luck.

I just uploaded my itunes on my computer yesterday for my ipod. So I got my shared file from my limewire copied over just fine.
Well yesterday when I connected my ipod to my computer it would not upload my songs on my ipod that I had in my itunes? I have no idea why?
Also today when I opened up my itunes there is a folder on there that I do NOT put on my list and I have no idea how to delete it? The only option it gives me is “open” and “disconnect” so how do I delete the file off completely?

I need some help figuring this out!
Thank you!

Is your computer connected to a network? If yes, then what you might see is someone elses iTunes plalylist. Now ignore the Limewire playlist. That doesn't mean much re: iPod!!! The LW playlist in iTunes is simply a reference playlist - you can play but can't copy those songs in that playlist; the actual song files are still in the LW downld folder. You need to add them to the iTunes Music Library before you can add them to your iPod. See How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)

Thank you for the help!

I am on a network so that is why that folder appeared but I figured out how to get it to go away.

Ok I looked at the link you provided (which was a bit confusing) for the first time ipod user. Now I still have a question.... I consolidated my library and I plugged up my ipod again (thinking that was the problem because I didn’t consolidate it before) well still not luck. My ipod says "do not disconnect" and my itunes is doing nothing? My ipod just sits there saying "do not disconnect" and the songs still aren’t uploading into my ipod??? :( It gives the categories in my ipod like "country", "rap", "R&B", etc, but no songs in those categories? I'm so confused??

Did you view thru the Apple iPod tutorial? And the iTunes tutorial? Don't forget you can manually add songs to your iPod. And remember also, if you just connected your iPod, it might be recharging before it's ready to upload. Did you read the iPod manual that came with it?

Yes I looked all over the apple.com site and I could not find any answers?
The only manual I saw was the one explaining what everything did but nothing to actually answer questions to problems?
Everything I have done so far looks right (my boyfriend did his at home) and mine looks like his but the songs aren’t going into my ipod?

When you buy an iPod you get a printed out manual & a more elaborate pdf one on a cd that comes with it. If you can't figure out how to get your songs to iTunes Music Library after all the examples of various techniques to try until you find one that suits you, in the link I gave, plus iTunes & iPod tutorials then I'm sorry but I'm giving up on this thread. I can fill the spade but am not willing to fill in the hole. You need to concentrate a little more. It's up to you now. I'm sure others will add advice ... hopefully for your sake.

Remember - priority -> Get songs directly into iTunes music library. Then add them to iPod.

Thanks for responding!

I have a windows XP computer.
I have not tried it on my boyfriends computer (he has a laptop) because he has different songs than me and I really don’t want his songs on my ipod.
I have the ipod nano that holds 1000 songs.
When I plug it up into my computer my ipod just says “do not disconnect” for a long time and it will not stop saying that until I unplug it myself even when it still says “do not disconnect”.

Hope that helps so I can figure out what I’m doing wrong?
At first I was thinking I had a setting on my itunes that was wrong but I’m not sure?

Thank you so much for your help! (My boyfriend does have different taste in music, haha)

Well I called the support people and they did get me to download the new version of itunes and the ipod updater. So I did that and then they asked me what kind of files the songs where and they were all downloaded as MPG-1 and ipod does not recognize those they had to be MP3 so I just needed to convert my songs. So I'm doing that now.

:p
