Settings/Options

Hi there

I am trying to set the options to optimize performace as one of the threads suggest but am confused.

I have a 512KBPS connection through NTLfreedom Cable Modem via my Bt line.

My upload speed is 242 kilobytes per second which equals 30.3 kilobits

My download speed is 482 kilbytes per second which equals 60.3 kilobits

The speed settings bars are like 4.2Kbs ?????

What do I set it to ????

The speed I am uploading at on the botton toolbar says 5Kb is this good ???

You can set your download at max and you upload at 40 to 45 when using LimeWire it is a good idea not to have to many files searching or waiting for sources at a time it will affect your download capabilities. I have found it best to only Download 1 or 2 files at a time if you are downloading popular files you should be DL at 25KB/s to 30KB/s if you are not searching or have allot of files waiting for sources.

When you have files waiting for sources the are using up you bandwidth continually searching for sources. The best practice is to find a file you want start the DL and let it complete. At the max I would do 2 at the most with your connection.Faster connections like T1, T3 some cable connections can DL more.

These are just guide lines for starting out you can adjust them from there but they should work fairly well for you connection speed.
