ethernet probs

Hi, i live on a student campus and i want to know how i enable the ethernet / network for faster downloading from other users on my network!!

sometimes it works, but it has turned itself off and i cant turn it back on!! how do i get these settings?

its something to do with the LAN if that helps?

There aren't any user settings re ethernet results. They just show up when you search and there are others on your LAN at school that are also sharing.

well the dude who lives in the room opposite me has all of the ethernet users show up on his searches!! i checked all the settings but i cant see anything different!!!

No way to know from here how your LAN is set up.

Still, here are a few ideas

--try to direct connect to his machine using the Direct Connect type search.

You should be using a different port than his, or the results will all go to his port, but I'm not sure how your LAN determines who gets what port.

Ask him to quit--and if you startup first, maybe all the results will go to you
