Default time zone

before you tell me to do a search, I've already looked under zone in search and all I got are results about zone alarms and "time zone" gave me way too many results.

I have trouble reaching hosts because I get no search results at times. So I wonder if it had anything to do with the time zones, meaning that maybe some people are just asleep or it's in the day time during the week and people are in school and work. So I was wondering by browsing a host, is there a way to tell what time they have? So I know that if it's like 4:00 in the morning there, the reason why I can't get them is becuase they're asleep. Because sometimes when I don't get search results, I worry that it's because there's something wrong with limewire. So I don't know if there's something wrong with limewire or if it's just the time.

Also while I'm still here... is there a way to know whether people have a hard time downloading from me because I do have a wireless router and I know that acts like a firewall. I have a Dlink air utility wireless router. Anyone know about it? Not sure if that can prevent ppl from uploading from me and if that's the reason why I would get no search results sometimes. I guess not all firewalls prevent you from being uploaded but I didn't know whether on my end, it's causing a problem.

Hi Elizabeth81,
AFAIK, unless someone has their location showing below username (within the forum), there's no way to tell where they're from. Browsing a host won't tell you.

Re your uploads: Have a look at shared files in your library. In the Uploads column, the number on the left is how many times the file has been successfully uploaded. The figure on the right is how many times an upload has been attempted. If you go to tools >options >bug reports >view example then scroll down to 'Recieved incoming this session'. If it says 'false', LimeWire probably has a problem with a firewall and this will effect others downloading from you.
You can always go to the Download/Upload part of the forum & have a look at the stickies, there's heaps of info and advice there.

what's AFAIK?

It did come out as false. How do I fix this? I tried going to this site: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml but none of the firewalls here listed what I got. I have a D-Link Air utility or the D-Link Air DWL-520 Wireless PCI Adapter. How do I deal with this kind of firewall or router and get it to work with limewire?

AFAIK means "As far as I know", sorry for the confusion

Re your firewall probs - go to the Download/Upload section of the forum & look through the stickies. You might find a solution. If not, post your question in that section (I don't know enough to help you out with this!!). Don't forget to include all info like: OS, Java version, Modem/router name & model number, connection type, and anything else you can think of.
Good luck

D-Link devices only support UPnP in certain models ( http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.as...eral%20Routers ), which allows LW to communicate directly with the device to open ports. Setting UPnP for your D-Link router: http://support.dlink.ca/ProductFAQView.asp?FAQID=1004 However, I've also read where D-Link's UPnP has had problems on specific models!

Thus, for D-Link (which is what I use) you generally need to manually forward a port. ie: Set up Static ip, forward a port, & then set LW's advanced options for manual port forwarding.
http://portforward.com/routers.htm (bottom left column of page) Can you find out the model of the D-Link Air utility?

I'm not sure what you mean by bar graph? Do you mean the connection bars at the bottom corner of LW or ... ?

Double-click the bar graph icon in the system tray (the area in the lower right-hand corner of the screen, by the clock) and select Site Survey.
Are you sure you have all the firmware upgrades for that model? Those instructions are for SP1 or no SP.

I know where the bar graph is located and what I said before is that it's not there.

And I don't know what the firmware upgrades are? I'm not that great with computers.
