iTunes Sharing

Hey, I wonder if anyone can help me. I went to my nephew's house yesterday and noticed that he has managed to get his shared folder connected directly to iTunes as if it were a stream with all his tracks and it automatically updates itself. He is using an older version of iTunes than i am (pre-facelift). I've tried to get this working on my computer by ticking the share and extra compatability mode yet it still fails to work..can anyone point me in the right direction as i feel it is a wonderful addition to have! I look forward to a response soon.

Off-hand I think your issue is iTunes settings. Go to iTunes menu bar> Edit >Preferences>Sharing & tick Look for shared music. I'm not sure if the effect is immediate or you need to wait until next time you open LW.

well i've enabled that now and it appears still to not be working. i'm using iTunes 6.0.1.3 if that helps at all...any other suggestions? Does iTunes have to be my default player for audio files?

Did you quit & relaunch LW? Recheck your settings for LW's iTunes options. Also relaunch iTunes. Oh & did you type in a username in the sharing option in iTunes? You'll find the LW playlist either at the top or bottom of the playlist list in iTunes so have a close look.

Ye i did both. I have rechecked my iTunes settings. In sharing option in iTunes i have it ***"Martyn's Music". It says that it's on and connected but there are no users...

I remember it didn't work immediately for me either. Leave it a day & see how it goes. AFAIK the change doesn't happen immediately. Perhaps next time you boot up it will change. There's a couple of files that belong to iTunes which run in the background. Perhaps it's related to them. I don't know.
